For Today...
Outside my window... rain... dreary, gloomy rain.
I am thinking... about the new iPhone camera. I know it is supposed to be an improvement, but I keep accidentally taking four times as many photos as I was trying for.
I am thankful for... J.C. returning from his bike trip all in one piece. I often have this for my "I am thankful for" prompt when he has been off biking, but it is especially pointed for this trip. He was with a group of four guys. One came home with a broken collar bone. One came home with a humerus bone broken in three places. JC came home with a bike with a busted shock and rim. Only one of the four came home uninjured and with a fully functional bike. That's not great odds. I am thankful it was only JC's bike that broke, and not any bones. His buddies were not so fortunate.
From the kitchen... chicken and stuffing, sweet potatoes, and salad.
I am creating... lots of laundry piles, both clean and dirty.
I am going... to bed shortly.
I am reading... Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella.
I am hoping... that my cousin's adoption is not impacted too much by the government shutdown. She and her husband are in Macedonia right now trying to finish up the last steps of their adoption of two little boys, hoping to have them home by Christmas. They have had nothing but problems, issues, delays, and red tape through the entire process, and I worry that the government shutdown will add to that even more.
I am hearing... J.C. tinkering in the garage... wouldn't want the bike to be out of commission for too long!
Around the house... signs of fall - Halloween decor, pumpkin pop tarts, Halloween Jo Jos, fall flowers.
One of my favorite things... Goodreads. If you enjoy reading, you should join!
A few plans for the rest of the week... lunch with an old friend, being the mystery reader in Addison's kindergarten class, and going to a pumpkin patch.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing... shrimp we brought back from the beach. Yum!

Pumpkin pop tarts? That's a new one for me. ha. I love Goodreads as well. It's really helped me keep track easier of what I've read and what I want to read.
Your shrimp looks very yummy. Hope you had fun at the beach. It's my favorite kind of vacation.

Hi there! Came to your post via Simple Woman's Daybook. Pumpkin pop-tarts sound interesting. We were sent the Pumpkin Cheesecake cookies from Pepperidge Farm in a care package. Pretty tasty! Hope all goes well for JC on the next bike trip! (Scary stuff there)

Hi Rin and Lisa! The pumpkin pop tarts are technically not pop tarts. They are Trader Joe's organic toaster pastries or something like that. Anyway, I do NOT like pop tarts at all. I think they taste like cardboard, but these are delish!!

Ann: Ellen's & Peter's meeting with US Consul on 4th went well & all their papers are in order. Sam & Nick will be issued Macedonian passports, yet need visas from USA -a problem with US Government shut-down. Consular offices will be open only through the 11th. I alternate between praying & cussing. Barbie
