Jodi

OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW!!!!! THIS NEEDS TO BE SENT in 700 point font to - EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Armin

Irony of ironies, my 5th grade report was on...Maryland.

Ann

Thanks Jodi. Last night, Elise came in our room after HOURS of practice tests, and said, "I finished all of it except two math ones. I just can't do it any more. I know how to do math." I said, "Then don't. Just stop." She looked at me like I'd lost my mind and said, "Really? You don't care if I don't finish the last two?" I said, "NO! Like you said... you know how to do math. This is ridiculous how much they are making you do to prepare for EOG's. Just quit. Go relax." It is insanity.

Carla

My 5th grade report was all of New England -- including Rhode Island -- and I loved doing it. I can still sink my teeth into any research project.

I have a 3rd, 4th and a 5th grader at home all bringing home multiple comprehension test passages a night as EOG prep.

Meredith

AMEN!

Audrey

Lol reading a book is a novel' idea. Pun intended? :)

From my experience tutoring I concluded the only entities that truly benefit from the test business are the companies that make the tests, the companies that sell the paper, and those that print the tests. Maybe if all of that money were spent on the teachers' pay and the school libraries the kids would really learn something other than test taking. Mom

Ann

Audrey - but, of course!! :)

Carey

There are definitely some over the top schools out there - yours obviously included. My kids' school has been great. I think they've probably done a lot During school but didn't have ANY take home practice tests. And I like it that way!

Ann

Oh Carey, I'm so jealous! That's how it should be. What my kids have been required to do this year has been absolutely ridiculous!

Sheila

So well said!
