Maybe the socks realize you hate them and run away because their feelings are hurt.

I've often said (when we lose one sock) that "it went to live with Jesus."

I heard once that socks are coat hanger larva. Makes sense to me.

I am so with you Ann. Seriously where do they go?!? I just don't understand. I thought I was being so smart and now have a basket for no mates socks. Each time I do laundry and have a no mate sock I go to that basket to find the mate. Is is ever there? No. So I just throw in more no mate socks. It is an endless cycle.

When my four were all still living at home I used to spread out all the socks on the ping pong table & put up a sign saying:
"Have and orgy! Mate socks!"
There would still be dozens of odd socks left over.
