Outside my window... my Halloween decorations are up. Yes, I know it is still September, but they make me happy.
I am thinking... about my mile long to-do list for today.
I am thankful for... our fall beach getaway.
From the kitchen... cavatini, salad, and garlic bread.
I am creating... a beach blog post.
I am going... to work on cleaning up my bedroom today. It is a wreck.
I am reading... nothing right now. I just finished Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously. I love the movie, so I wanted to read the book. It gets fairly lousy reviews for the writing, her whiny voice, and self-absorbed story, but I have to say I loved it anyway. I loved her story, sympathized with her whines, and just throughly enjoyed reading it. I do think this is one of the few cases where the movie is better than the book, but I still really liked the book.
I am hoping... Addison survives her first day back to kindergarten after a 2.5 week track-out. She was a bundle of nerves and a crying mess this morning, so I don't have a good feeling about it. I hope she has a better day than I am anticipating.
I am hearing... The Good Wife on TV.
Around the house... beach toys, suitcases, and laundry that needs to be put away from our trip.
One of my favorite things... Old Navy tank tops.
A few plans for the rest of the week... just getting back into the groove of school.
Outside my window... a gorgeous sunny day in the 70's, not a cloud in the sky, salty air calling my name, and a sandy beach waiting for my toes.
I am thinking... happy thoughts. The beach does that to me.
I am thankful for... track-outs from school during low-cost, great-weather beach vacation months.
From the kitchen... brownies that Nina made.
I am creating... well, not me exactly, but the girls are creating all sorts of fun Halloween crafts that we brought to the beach with us. I'm an occassional helper.
I am going... to head down to the beach as soon as I finish this post.
I am reading...Little Bitty Lies by Mary Kay Andrews.... typical MK Andrews - set in the South, great characters, fun chick-lit. I finished It's My Wedding Too by Sharon Naylor. It was fun.I'm clearly in a beach book mode right now.
I am hoping... for great weather the rest of the week.
I am hearing... girls yelling at each other about swimsuits.
Around the house... it sounds like the entire house has been cleaned, scrubbed, and de-cluttered from top to bottom in our absense. I fear that J.C. might not let us come back after all his hard work.
One of my favorite things... the beach... everything about it.
A few plans for the rest of the week... play in the waves, play in the pool, eat seafood, read, sleep, repeat.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing... we never saw the sun yesterday, but we got enough of a break in the downpour that we were able to to spend some sprinkly time at the pool.
Outside my window... our weather could not be more perfect lately. We have had the windows and doors open which is fortunate since our downstairs air conditioning is out!
I am thinking... about the shooters at the DC Navy Yard today. I will never understand this sort of random violence against innocent people.
I am thankful for... our short escape to the beach last week (great weather, nice condo, and a fab deal on groupon that made it possible)
From the kitchen... chicken on the grill tonight, not sure what else.
I am creating... piles for Goodwill.
I am going... to Austin in January, I think, for my cousin's wedding. My best friend has offered me a free place to stay and a car too. Her husband runs a used car business on the side, and I jokingly told her that I would be happy with any Lexus, BMW, or Mercedes that he could loan me for the weekend. She wrote back in all seriousness offering me a Bentley or Rolls! I think I would be a nervous wreck driving either!
I am reading...It's My Wedding Too by Sharon Naylor. It is total fluff, but was the perfect book to take to the beach last week.
I am hoping... that Addie takes a nap this afternoon. Gymnastics track-out camp wore her out this morning, but she won't admit it.
I am hearing... a quiet house.
Around the house... rainbow loom bands. I wish I was the guy who invented that thing. (Read about him here: NY Times)
One of my favorite things... the "house chips" at Which Wich. Best. Potato. Chips. EVER.
A few plans for the rest of the week... laundry and sewing patches on Girl Scout vests. You want my life, don't you? Never a dull moment.... or, uh, mostly dull moments.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing... taking a break from playing in the water after spotting a SHARK right where Elise and Nina were boogie boarding. You can see JC in the background on shark watch.
